FAQ

  • The current President of the Society of Hope Sabah is Josephine Hadikusumo, who is a corporate lawyer based in the firm CJ Liew & Co. The rest of the committee members consist of professionals who are volunteering their time at the society as well as one full-time employee who manages the administration and logistics work. We are constantly looking for volunteers who can contribute their time and efforts to our many projects. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please reach out to us.

  • If you are a Malaysian, when you make a donation to the Society of Hope Sabah, your donation is tax-exempt because the society is a registered charity under the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri. Simply contact us to make a donation or go directly to our donation page and then email us your full name, contact number, NRIC number or business registration number (if you are a corporation), and mailing address, as well as the amount donated so that we can process this internally. A receipt for your donation will be emailed or WhatsApped to you. The hard copy can also be mailed to you at your request.

Please keep the receipt so that you can use the details when filing your tax returns for that year in order to qualify for tax exemption.

  • Currently the Society of Hope Sabah is operating out of a law firm where it is co-sharing the space with CJ Liew & Co. We hope to have our own premises eventually, but at the moment our funding priority is for our community building projects.

  • We look forward to opportunities for collaboration with other organisations or the private sector. Be sure to contact us with your proposal and we can have a discussion about how we can work together.

  • As an NGO and a registered charity under the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri, the Society of Hope Sabah is required to submit to audits by the relevant bodies in order to maintain its status. We keep clear records of our funding and spending because accountability is a very important principle in our organisation. As a donor, you may also designate which project you would like to support under our projects manifesto and we will be sure to put your donation towards that designated project.
